Today i was feeding my fish their faveourite meal a pot containing, Mussle, prawn, squid cockle ETC... and as all of my fish are big i have been trying to hand feed them and i was amazed at how used to me they are. My silver arowana was taking mussles from my hands and some of my larger datinoide. My oscars and snooks were eating loads of prawn. Lungy (my lungfish) was taking food (i don't hand feed due to the risk) and what was the best was that my 16-18" Perruno cat came up and took about 5 or 6 hole mussle by hand and was hungry for more. Experiences like this make the hobby even more enjoyable.

Watching and learning behaviours that websites can't very well get across. You can also learn to see how intelligent fish are.

If you successfully spawn something that's a good feeling- it's a good indication your fish are happy and secure in the artificial environment you made them.

Rock on Davo you speak the truth mate,

That's too cool! Great thread!

a couple of years back i had an african lungfish (darwin) who i would hand feed and if you laied your hand on the bottom of the tank he/she (not sure) would climb abord and catch a ride to the surface. that has been my favorite fish, i was out of town for a week and left darwin in the care of the girlfriend and come home to a dead lungfish, yes im still bitter. but the momories are worth it. someday ill bring myself to get another one. a while ago i had an arrowanna who was afraid of my hand so he wouldnt hand feed. at most pet stores sell bamboo feeding tongs for reptiles, i got a pair and could feed him that way. not quite hand feeding but its the next best thing.

i did that too, posted a vid on it here somewhere.
cool feeling the first time hand feeding.
but once they get to 20"+ i can bet your fingers wont even get close to him. :D
he goes after my fingers all the time now so i dont hand feed anymore.lol
:)

My aro used to attack the crap out of my hand if it got too close to the surface of the water. It was around 16"-17" or so, and would bite my fingers... never hurt tho.
