The time has finally arrived!!! I've been waiting months for this....
Earlier I posted here about my 300 gal pond in the basement.. It's been cycling waaaayyyy too long (only because im anxious). I've had it filled and running about a month or so. trying to do it all as inexpensive as possible.
I bought the pond off craigslist for $100.. Preformed. The heaters off ebay, awesome place to find inexpensive accessories. 2 300w heaters for about $20 including shipping. The second one just arrived today. So in the pond I have a 300w and a 400w. the larger from another tank that is fine with smaller wattage. The canister filter and pump came from a tank I also bought from craigslist. Now I am simply waiting for the temp to come up a few degrees. It seems to be rising about a 1/2 a degree per hour, now around 68F... So by tomorrow morning I'll be able to move my 2+ foot long RTC/TSN Hybrid Catfish (The Juggernaut) and his accomplice, my Oscar, to the pond. Freeing up my 120 tall...
After they get moved the 120 will be turned into a discus community (from a now 55) which means more room for more fish..... I got a finer gravel soaking in large bins, new driftwood (also soaking),and more plants.
Then the 55 will be clear for my mated pair of EBJD and his gf (Babe and BB), and their fry.. Who are in a 125 but with a divider due to other stock... I also have made a couple dividers for the 55 in case the mated pair and fry have quarrels or the like...
So.....
Catfish and Oscar to the 300 gal pond in the basement
The discus community from the 55 to the 120 gal
and the dempsey family can have their own place in the 55...
Its been a lot of work and even more patience (having to wait 2 weeks for my heaters because Im too cheap to pay for express shipping)
Heres some pics and more work and pics to come once complete
