OK After my headbanger post, and all of your helpful, (sometime truly prfound ha ha) input, I'm getting my 15" silver/red whatever he thinks he is a 150 in a few days. Now, the great transfer. I cannot use my well water, too hard and high ph. City water from her is 7.2/very hard. Can buy RO water, (hah! .40/gal), so i'm thinking 2 55 gallon drums full of water from west of the mountains that is perfect for him, plus the 55 in his tank, which had decided to do a little algae bloom. So, the 55 in his tank should be cleared up, I want to use new rocks, figured I'd transfer over used filters full of good scummy bacteria in hopes of preventing an algae population explosion. INPUT PLEASE, what's the best way to set this thing up with my water problems??

set up your tank first with the well water and get your parameters straight then move him in buy a bag of bacteria from your lfs if they have it and BAM instant bacteria colony but moving 55 gallon drums full of water is going to be impossible if you want to import water try 20 gallon rubbermaid containers this is how i always move fish and water they are alot lighter and easier to manage

yes i would use some old stuff but you can by bags of bacteria at the lfs usually just to help get a bigger colony going and you can lower the ph of the water and make it exceptable for your fish you might just have to wait a week to put your fish in

he a silver but he is brilliant red, so I tell him he's a red as to not damage his fragile self fishteem.
i still think that you should get use to using your well water and set up a water aging pool then you can do all the water changes yourself... have you thought of buying a RO filter and using that for your fish water????
well it doesnt exactly settle but yo can change the parameters of your well water just like you have to change and hold certain parameters for your fish tank and i would love to see a pic of your aro i am a huge aro fan i have 22 of them
