The escondido seems like he has hit a growth spurt since the last time ive posted about him. I have noticed a considerable amount of growth the last 2 weeks. What do you guys think? Im actually in the process of looking for a female for him to try breeding in the future. But LOOK AT THAT BLUE!!!!!

Nice fish! Really cool colors!

Mine went through a growth spurt once, went from about 2-5" to 4 in a month which is about triple the growth rate normally, and now its been 4 months and he is just a tad bigger than 6", which means half an inch per month, which is the norm.

Good luck finding a female... I bought 15 Texas from my LFS over the period of a few months and most tyrned out to be male, and i only found 2 that were 100% female but he never bonded with them.

Thank you. Thats the fear im having with this guy. Im thinking he wont accept a female but I have hope

Nice fish.
Carpintis are one of those cichlids that will breed very young and at a very small size. However breeding pairs will be painfully slow growing. If you want your carpintis to grow, keep pairs apart until they reach a decent length.
