ok...i recently have set up a new 58 gallon breeder style aquarium with one 11" black belt, one 6" jaguar, and one 5" plecostomus.......( i know my tank is too small, but i have heavy filtration and i do frequent large water changes...... i am also getting a 100 gal bowfront in december). i used to have a large channel catfish in with them but after realizing that their was no way i could accomidate such a large fish, i gave it to my friend for his indoor pond. but now my tank seems to be missing that something that only a catfish can give an aquarium. so heres the question.....what kind of catfish should i get? i'm looking for something that gets large, but not ridiculously huge, active during the day, and interesting.........any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

there are many smaller catfish depending on what type you are looking for! There is a catfish out there for everyone!

large catfish are noctornal, most pedatoral fish are noctornal, so keep that in mind. try having chiclids, like empeor chiclids or peakock bass?

some of the smaller pimelodoieds linke four lines & spotteds. get about 10 inches. asian bumblee cats are cool also.

I'd get a Pictus cat. They stay pretty small and are very active. Seems perfect for your setup.

On another note, save your money with the bowfront. For that money, you can get a 120g or bigger easily.
