A very nice collection of fish I must say! My favorite is the leiarius pictus-sailfin cat. I had one years ago and it grew to 18" and I had to sell it or actually trade it in at my local LFS as it had outgrown my 130G tank. One of the most interactive fish I've ever kept, I'd open the top of the tank and it would come to the surface with it's long barbels out of the water waiting to be hand fed, so enjoyable a pet fish it was! I also like very much your ornate bagrid although it's actually a claroteidae species- chrysichthys ornatus. I've been wanting one for years but haven't been able to find one for sale, they seem to be rarely imported. It will be interesting to see how your young fish grow up in the future! Also my cat enjoys the hobby too?

Thank you for this thread and for sharing. I look forward to learning and enjoying.

The catfish you are calling ornate bagrid is, as Yellowcat says, Chrysichthys ornatus aka decorated African big-eyed catfish, this genus is also sometimes called aluminum catfish or midnight catfish in the trade.

The Colombian wood cat looks like one of the common ones, the Trachelyopterus galeatus, to a quick glance.

thanks for the heads up on the Ornatus - that’s one thing i’d like to work on... accurately spelling and using the correct name -

the colombian wood cat is common for sure! @$10 - this guys a stunner though!

looking forward to him and the Vulture -

this Bloch’s could be nice if he pulls through.... medicated now via heat and salt -

looks like he was chewed up amd spit out by a larger fish...

- Sailfin - was a top hand feeder prior to its current state ?

thanks all for the comments!

It’s nice to see another with a L.pictus, my big girl is still around the 3ft mark but bulky as hell (6years old) . Female always tend to get larger then males. I believe you can sex them via the info page on planet catfish.

Nice collection of cats. Look forward to future updates.
