Ich is one of those strange diseases. It’s always present in your water and if or how a fish is infected is hugely variable based on many factors. One of the most interesting points being that an unstressed fish, in recovery itself and “happy” can itself with no help fend off reinfection from even a bad coating.
Let’s hope your fish is happy and in recovery and will do this too, however the addition of a bit of tonic salt, or alternatively (preferably) malachite green or methelyne blue and heat to speed up the life cycle of the Protozoa will obviously improve chances.
Good luck!
thanks for info!

got some methylene blue , will evaluate when i get home-

thanks all!

IDK if it is a good idea to switch to another med mid way because my impression has been that salt+heat (+ upped aeration) is a valid and recommended way no matter how bad the infestation is. Perhaps I need to reread the sticky in the Diseases forum.

Roderigo of Predatory Fins is my (and Ohio Fish Rescue's) close collaborator and a good long term friend and I feel that I must offer some defense. No one is perfect, neither me, nor him, I guess, but I am surprised the fish was sent in a bad shape. I have been to his fish house many times and struggle to recall ever seeing a sick fish, not that it is impossible or never happened, just saying that generally his fish are good. If I may ask, please, reach out to him if you are dissatisfied and ask to make things right, mention this thread on MFK if you'd like, I am sure he doesn't want bad publicity, plus he is a vendor on MFK.

Also, he has been working on expanding his ops and hiring and trying out employees; we all know how hard it is to find someone who'd care about your business as much as you, the owner, do, or at least someone truly reliable, diligent, and honest.

Victor - i’ll look up the sticky - as long as they seem to be on the mend no need to switch meds.

Lights are off in the Blochii QT - looks like most ICH is cleared up!

the columbian wood cat the healthiest of the group 2” seems to be tanking a little heat from his QT buddy 2” Distichodus sexfaciatus -

will check it out in the morning when lights are on!

thanks all for observations and recommendations!

nite all!

The Blochii / Bloch’s is looking solid - eating anything and very Active Swimmer! Will go to 125g grow out with some juvi bass -

the vulture , ornatus, and lancer are sadly in a 75g with ich / misc unknown pathogen that the pinima came in with - after 1 more week of ich treatment - (salt) - will start prazi and levismole (spelling) -

cheers all!
