Both of this pic's are the same fish about a week apart. No flash, just tank lights. The only thing that changed is the water temp went from 78 to 84. His kok popped a little and his color lightened drastically.

color more important on this fish, but it doesn't mean that if you lower the temp the kok will get smaller.

Actually it does mean that it will get smaller if you lower the temperature. I keep my flowerhorn tanks between 78*-82*. I would probably go to 84* if electricity wasn't so damn expensive. Warmer water also increases fishes metabolism which = faster growth.
