About 5months ago, i got a filter. It was the weirdest thing i ever seen, and cheap. Just 10bucks NEW.

Its just a regular HOB filter like your common wisper or topfins.

BUT, it has 3 cambers. And the design is really unique.

Its a HOB filter with a fluidized sand bed built in!

Unlike other filters, the sponge/media is inside.
Here, the sponge is wraped outside the intake, making it a good fry tank filter but with power.
First chamber is for the impeller like other HOBs.
2nd, is the sand bed.
3, is the media bed. Comes with a carbon pad, but you can fill it with whatever you want.

Kinda like a mini sump.

I just got to use this on my 2 1/2 gallon fry tank, and it works great. Too bad they dont sell this anymore..

But, i dont think it would work so good for a huge tank, so a small tank would be perfect, like a nano.

Il get pics of it running on my 2 gal later.

Lucky i orderd 2 of these things, cant find them anymore anywhere haha.

I have one. I don't think it is too great for my tank. The prefilter clogs all the time, so it never pumps as it should. I am sure it works better on a small tank. Great find, for you.

Yeah, its not the BEST, but its a pretty cool setup.

Only thing thats annoying me right now, is how loud it is...stupid bubbles keep getting stuck inside the intake and flushed around by the impeller.
