The count down has begun!!(3 to 4 weeks) for the 450 gallon.

I just got the confirmation on when they will be coming to my house to build my 450 gallon tank. Just 3 to 4 weeks away!!!

I have a couple of questions for everyone.

What size sump should a person have for a 450 gallon tank? I am going with a 120 gallon and outside silent overflow boxes on the sides of the 450 gallon.

I am going to use 2 Ecotech marine vortech propeller powerheads @ 3000 gph. Does any one else know of any simliar powerheads for up to or over 5/8 glass thickness?

I am going with 2 mag drive 1800 pumps for the sump. Thats 1800 gph.

For lights I am going with either two 4' Tek light T5 or two 4' double bulb coralife flourescent. I am not sure how many bulbs in the tek lights yet. It's either 4,6 or 8 bulb.

If anybody else has any ideas for powerheads,pumps,lights,heaters etc.Just post them for me.

So far I have spent $4700 and I have just the lights,powerheads,plumbing and media left to buy. The tank measures 96" x 30" high x 36" wide. I was thinking about going to 36" high but its hard to reach the bottom of the tank. That would have put it at 500 gallons.

They build tanks for my lfs and since I can't fit anything bigger then a 230 gallon down my stairs they are going to construct it in my basement. They whined and cried about doing it because they have to travel 1 1/2hrs to get to my place. I guess they have enough business as it is and didn't want to build my tank but the guy that owns the fish store talked them into it. He told them he wanted to do this for his customer. I am glad he was on my side or I would be stuck owning a 230 gallon for the rest of my life.

sounds wicked! you will probably wind up upgrading those 1800 pumps though. I run a quietone 9000 at 2300gph on my 200 gal and it's just about right.

I almost forgot, just a little excited! It will be freshwater and these are the fish that will be going in plus a couple more.
