what is the difference between a fasciatum and a tigrinum (tiger shovel nose catfish)
is there a way to find out i mean distinguish these 2
other than knowing from where they came

i thought so but then again i was like their patterns are always varying individual to individual

ok
then i have 2 13" fasciatum
the other 2 are still too small to id

All 3 of mine are Tigrinum... one is turning silver and black which is cool but the other 2 are holding strong to the brown/black patterns (obviously both are with white as well)
all four of mine are brownish
although one of 'em is a li'll lighter shade of brown but all three are really dark
my RTCxTSN is tooo light for my liking though

Yeah My Hybrids change color depending on mood... they go from a LIGHT brown to a Dark DARK Brown ... kinda cool actually ... I have to tell them apart by a little scar on evil's back...Or else i'm screwed when I'm trying to figure out who is eating and who isn't LOL

LOL that used to happen when my TSNs were small and i really couldn't tell who was eating and who wasn't
and by the way aren't your TSNs too small to actually tell whether they are fasciatums or tigrinums
as my TSNs didn't get their true markings till they were 8" or so
as of now i am searching for huge industrial tubs here and as this city i live in is still not that very developed i couldn't find any and i have to search somewhere else

Nope my TSN's are all around the 6" mark and have their markings just as clear as the nose on my face LOL

Since your in a "undeveloped" area... hit the farm supply places and I'm sure you'll find exactly what your looking for ;)
