I'm a huge fan of breeding cichlids using this method and I've bred numerous species of American cichlids with this method but this is the first time I've had spectabilis breed this way for me.
I picked out a pair about 6 months ago but they got too aggressive so I kept them seperated. Today I found the female fanning eggs in a pot that was next to the divider.

They came from a vendor at the Ohio extravaganza in November. They were kind of hanging together so I bought them along with 3 others. The others are in a tank divided into 3 compartments but so far I see no interest in each other. I only have a cellphone to take pics so they turn out pretty crappy. And I have no lights on my tanks, just a room light.

Very nice! What size are they? Mine are still small but are starting to get really feisty.
