Im trying to get my fish used to the feared net. Would putting it in the aquarium and letting it sit there for a week be a good or bad thing to do?

You know, I tried this same thing cuz I didn't want to tear the tank down when I was trying to get my cardinal out. I left the net in there for over a month - never moved it! Fed out of it and everything! Tried everything in my power to get the stupid fish in the net so I didn't have to tear the tank apart. Aaand....I tore the tank apart..... 
I will say though that the clowns and angel didn't mind it at all. They ate out of it just fine. I even caught my angel feeding my (or so I thought) starving cardinal out of it.

I used a 12" net when I had to capture a damsel, it worked great!
