my lfs got some of thoose "Edge" tanks in and they have one on the counter with some upside down cats and other small fish, and it looks sweet. anyone got any reviews on these tanks? they look cool but im a little worried about spending $130 on a 6 gallon tank...

I would never pay that much for only a 6 gallon tank. sure it'll look nice, but for $130, i'd get a bigger tank, maybe even used, and put something worth showing in there! :headbang2

ya but i am way into the crazy looking tanks. i am going to be making a custom tank this summer for my best friends birthday if i can, that is going to be hung on the wall(its for a betta)

if you like it a lot, and have the money for it; get it. I suppose it would make a nice planted tank.

They have mediocre filtration systems and the lights are pretty weak for plants out of the box. Do some google searches and you can find a lot of info and mods.

You should also check out the new ones fluval put out, there are three different models of the same tank that have different prices and come with different equipment, the high end one is the Flora which comes with a small pressurized co2 kit.

I have never been very impressed with them. I mean, they are kinda cool...but not at that price. If you are looking for an all-in-one deal, you could try the Marineland Eclipse. The larger nano cubes are pretty cool, but still are too much money IMO.

My 2 year old got one for Christmas from grandma. She paid $99. I paid another $100 to get it going. I needed the heater, net, decor, replacement media, vacuum, chemicals, algae brush, etc. And of course, Fluval is more than happy to put "Edge" on all that stuff but not include it in the box. Even the "Edge" heater cost like 29 bucks. That's a third the price of the whole kit.

I opted for spongebob decor for the 2 year old and not the "Edge" decor for another $30-$40.

As for a review, I'd say it is what it is. Nothing special. I guess having a glass top is unusual. The filter that comes with it is enough so suck a neon up in to it. (oops).

I would not have bought one but since it was a gift I guess it's okay. The best part about it was it got me back in to the hobby. I'm up to a 125g now but it started with setting up that 6 gallon 5 months ago.

i just want to put like 3-5 upside down cats in it. and maybe some shrimp, just small stuff that produces little waste. i am designing my new room and one side is adventure themed with all the stuff ive collected from around the world and all my exotics. the other side is modern themed, my pieces off dragsters and mechanical stuff. and thought a real modern looking small tank would look sweet over there.
