I decided about 8 months ago I wanted to get into stingrays. I saw a pair at a LFS and I fell in love. Since then I've done an enormous amount of research, trying to learn as much as I can about stingrays. In June I found a 150 gal w/ the works on craigslist for 300 bones. Me being a broke college student and I couldn't afford one for much more I bought it w/ the intention of using it as a ray only tank.

For the last 2 1/2 months the tank has been cycling w/ 1 ac110 (came w/the tank, and the tank was running w/ that filter for over a year), 1 ac70 (bought new), a whisper filter that also came with the tank, and a hydro sponge filter. I have two 4inch pacu, a 6inch red hook, a 5inch Silver$, and a 3inch Bruno pleco. I've been doing 25% w/c weekly w/ one 50% a month.
My water parameters are doing good Ph 7.4 , Amm 0 , Nitrite 0 , Nitrate 0.

So now is when the fun begins this Saturday I will start the build on my 20gal w/d along w/ the purchase of another ac110 to replace the ac70. I was wondering would it be ok to add the rays at the end of oct as long as my water parameters are still reading 0? That way i'll be giving the new ac110 and the w/d alil over a month to cycle. As for the fish that are in the tank now I'll be getting store credit from the LFS I'm buying the rays from. So the pair of motoros im gettin will have the tank to themselves.

I know the 150 isnt large enough to keep them for life but my buddies dad has a 15,000gal being built so once they out grow my 150 I was gonna send them over to him

Im starting the design on the w/d tonight i'll post a pic along w/ questions later.

Thanks in advance.

yes let's see the pics ;)

Get a pair of pearls or some P-14's and you can send them over to me when they get too big for you! Just kidding. good luck with the wet/dry. Remember you have to feed those rays too. They can't eat Top Ramen.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys! I'll keep you all updated with the build and the purchase of the rays! I know how everyone loves pics so in the process i'll make sure to get lots of them.
