An island somewhere......
I purchased this male 7" Rio Mag Umbee, an offspring of "The General", from Freshwaterpredator... the same night I acquired a 5"-6" female Rio Mag from the same line from BlesOne. Both arrived December 21st. They were placed in a tank together, divided of course and within a week the divider was removed and they were introduced (or re-introduced as I was told by BlesOne that they use to be a pair). Within a week both dropped their tubes and they made a strawberry pot their breeding grounds. As of today, they are sitting on a batch of approximately 200-250 free swimming fry. So in conclusion.... "The General" bloodline continues.

Nice male.
Are Rio Mag umbees considered "lighter" than the gorillus? Is the difference because they belong to different locale, or something else I am missing?

Congrats bro!!! I'm glad he's doing well. I knew it wouldn't take long to spawn them:) and yes, these two paired off naturally and spawned around 3.5-4" before I sent the female to blesone. Lookin forward to the general line continueing. I'm glad that some people appreciate that bloodline:) good luck bro.

Since there was so much interest in this thread the first time.... all 4 replies :D, I thought I'd update the thread with a couple pictures. They've been moved into a 270g. tank with a portion of the tank divided to house a separate X-Mag male. I separated these the pair for a couple months to give the female a break from spawning. The male has put on some size since the original post.
