after having cloudy water for some time i couldnt work out why

my male had been trying to breed with my biggest female with no luck

a big fight must have happened at night as i woke up to find my male dead and the big female very stressed front lip up and not feeding

a very sad time as this male was born in my tank 6.5 years ago

from tip of tail to front lip 30" disk size 18"

i have added a new male which is 9" dish which shows how big my females are

the large male could never be mixed with any other male so this is the time to let 2 smaller males mature at the same time

 man that must stink so bad i feel you sorry for your loss

Well that's a real bummer, sorry for your loss. How big is that datnoid? It looks
huge.

I remember that male fro when i visited you, Richard, years ago.

I went through the same thing with cloudy water, and I find out its my bacteria boom so I do major water change and it still can't clear up, so what I did was clean my media in the sump completely and it clear up right on the next day. I also lost my 6 years old hbrtg as well during the cloudy time but its is my stupid mistake not the tank water, oh and my ray are doing fine just not a lot when I have cloudy water.

It was the breeding 100%

As it was clear one day cloudy the next

I also striped my sump down twice but still the same

The water has been clear now for 3 days without the male

The female he was trying with was badly stressed stopped feeding
But every other fish in the tank was fine

It happens its all part of the hobby life goes on

Horrible feeling to lose any ray especially when you have bred and raised it.....I know all too well!
Sad loss.
