so lazy that you dont want to make an overflow but you want a wet dry? i am so i made this;

One styrofoam box with lid*, a lunchbox and a storage tray. just add media
just cut a hole in the tray and the styro box

water flows from a pump inside the tank through the lunchbox which acts like a drip plate(it has holes), into the box which you fill full of bioballs, scrubbies your brothers underwear. then into the tray with the divider which is like a sump and drill a hole in the next side where you want the water level to be connect a hose to that and back into the tank. if you could understand my writing lol i think it should work.

How did you seal the Styrofoam box?

Where does the water come out of the Styrofoam box?

Do you have it up and running yet?

lol im just gonna wrap packing tape around it tight hopefully it will seal, sits on top
and water flows through the bottom of the box into the tray. ill get it set up this arvo after block exams and tell you what happens.

Sounds like your going to develop a leak in the middle of the night and wake up to a nasty surprise. Or the Styrofoam will deterioration over time.
