I'm in the store today buying crickets when this women in her seventys asks the guy helping me if they would buy her tortoise of course he won't what a shame i'm thinking while this women tells us that shes had him for 30 years and she cant take care of it anymore kinda sad this poor guy has out lived this person and how many more to come .
If i had the space i would have taken it at least till untill i got a hold of the zoo just makes me think how many exotic pets are left behind after we die and what happens to them i wonder if the tortoise will miss her when shes gone..

Yea its kinda sad. :(

its a shame they would not take it they should have

We sell tortioses at the pet store i work at, sulcattas and russians to be exact. Every customer leaves with the understanding that these animals HAVE TO BE WILLED OUT we there owners go. The Sulcattas can live for 80 years and reach 150lbs can you imagine a little old lady trying to deal with that!!! It makes me angry when stores will do anything to make the sale.

From what I understand, reptiles don't have the sector of the brain that controls the more advanced emotions, (ie: love) so no it won't miss her.

yep, living heirlooms. The gf has wanted a tortoise forever, and we've always agreed we need kids first, just so we know we'll be able to will it off one day. When we die.
