I replaced my old 40 breeder today with a brand new 75gal. I've been meaning to replace this tank for a long time, but things kept coming up. Money has been tight. Medical bills, getting married, deaths in the family, missing work, having a baby etc. I had an old AGA 75g from 1994 in rough shape which took precedence in replacement over this 40 earlier this year.
I got this tank for free from my old man. I knew it was old, I set it up a few years ago, when I wasn't quite so serious about fish keeping and didn't know what I do now. Thank god it was on a solid stand.

The trim was cracked in all 8 corners. At the time I believed the plastic was just cosmetic.
I discovered a chip in the back of the tank on a corner that I don't remember being there when i set it up.

My buddy and I attempted to move the 40, I got my hand under a corner to start lifting it, AND THE WHOLE TANK FLEXED!. A lot.... We had to put it on a 24"x48" piece of plywood to move it, we were terrified it would fall apart and injure someone.
I'm so lucky it didn't blowout despite my criminal negligence. Lol. I have no idea how it held together. It was much more structurally sound when I set it up.
Any tips on disposal of a larger tank?
