It is the cool season. This is northern Thailand, where there is the biggest difference in temperature ranges.
Although, at the moment it is not particularly cool. In fact it is quite pleasant. Certainly a long way below the height of the hot season.

It can get cooler than this, and probably will, maybe in January. In fact, the coolest I have known was a few years ago in the first week in February. It got down to nine celsius one night and hardly got much higher during the next day. A week later it was thirty five.
Compare to the hot season.

I have been down to the Ping river's edge to measure the water temperature.

Twenty eight celsius. That was in the shallows, where the the (11 am) sun would heat the water up quickly. But it would not be much cooler in the centre flow, maybe one degree less.
This is not atypical. This is the lower end of the temperature range for tropical fish.
So many websites list the temperature range for tropical fish as too low.
Don't know what the temperatures would be in the Americas.

But definitely for Asian fish, they live in much warmer water than may be envisaged by many fishkeepers.
If it gets significantly cooler over the next few weeks, I will update.
