Got my first fantail sole! Threw it back before any pics, but this is what they look like.

Ok, going fishing, but this time taking pics. Going on an all-day fishing boat for rockfish. The catches are insane. People limiting out with 10 whitefish, 10 rockfish, 5 vermilion rockfish, and still time to go bass or sculpin fishing!

Not a very great day. Dad won jackpot. 125 bucks. Here is our lot.

dark pink: Sculpin
Light Pink: Barber Pole
Blue: Boccaccio
No highlight: Mexican Rockfish
Not in picture: Olive Rockfish

we saw:

mola mola (first time seeing one)
TONS of Synapse Jellyfish
A huge jellyfish I dont know what is called (4-6 feet)

Ok, It is 3:17 and I need to leave for a boat at 3:30! All day boat to Catalina Island for Rockfish

Forgot to update here. Terrible fishing day. The wind was unbelievably strong, and the waves were massive. Nothing was biting. Only ended up with a few rockfish.

Well, up in Avila Beach. Waves were 7-9 feet on a vessel only 25 feet, so you can see how that went. Caught some nice ones nevertheless. Ask me and I can give you the individual species, but my dad and I together caught Gopher Rockfish, Lingcod, Black Rockfish, Vermillion Rockfish, Whitefish, and Blue Rockfish. The lingcod meat is blue. You can’t tell, but the vermillion are actually 3-4 pounds each!
