i was thinking of getting a 400 gal originally for rays and bichir, but some people said that it wouldn't work so well, and well, i like bichir more...:naughty:

i want it to be kind of a collection, so i will have only one of each fish.
the ones i want are:
P. bichir sp. Koliba
P. ornatipinnis
P. ansorgii
P. delhezi
P. palmas palmas
P. palmas buettikoferi
P. palmas polli
P. endlicheri endlicheri Guinea
P. retropinnis
P. weeksii
P. endlicheri endlicheri Volta River
P. sp. aff. endlicheri Tikinso Guinea
P. endlicheri endlicheri Nigeria
P. bichir lapradei Tikinso River
P. bichir lapradei Nigeria
and others:
Spotted gar (3-4)
Wide bar Dat or Silver dat (5-6)
Blakc ghost knife (1)
and thats it

thats 15 bichir in a 4.608 sq. in. footprint. dunno how well it would work... but I think they would be fine. here's my plan:
some of bichir are only available in big sizes, but on the ones that i can but as smalls, i would get them, let them grow out, and when they're big, get the others.

Man you must have this list on a computer or something. How do you remember all those bickirs names? I have 5 and I can't remember any veriety names so save my sole. What I do is kind of remember what they look like and get a different one when I see one available. You know, remembering all those names will keep you from going senille. I'm already there. Good show.
 
yea i wouldnt go for the dats or the knife. and u know this is gona cost a lot of money. the bichirs would work but wat is the dimensions of the tank. like in feet.

Your not a true fan unless you know all the scientific names and collection points :naughty:
 
q: can any more bichir live in there successfully assuiming I got all those listed? or is that enough?
 
lol yea the tank is close to max out but like i said leave out thos fish i told u earliyer. all they will do is stress u out if u just want to make a bichir and gar tank which i love and is fun to look at.
 
I have 15 bichirs (endlies, tikinso, teugelsi, palmas, polli, buetti, weeksii, ornate, lap, delhezi, ) in one tank and 13 on the other tank (endlies, dels, sens, ornate, polli).

There will be a bit of bickering to establich pecking order, but overall, they'll live peacefully..

keep everyone well fed and you'll be fine
