I came home from school to find my glass top laying on my corals. The middle section somehow lost it's hold and fell off. The glass lids feel with it.

What should I do? How dangerous is it to not have a beam there?

It probably depends on how big the tank is. I read earlier today in one of the 'mistakes you've made' threads that this happened to someone else, they drove to the lfs to find out if they should drain then fix, when they came home they only had about 30 gallons left in the tank, and a lot more on the floor.

It's 90 gallons.

Does it have a tight canopy on it? One of my 55's has a busted center brace but the canopy is pretty snug. I like tempting fate I suppose and 55g is alot less pressure than 90g tho.

It's a brand new tank (bout a year old) with a pretty snug canopy on it. How would I fix this? It's a saltwater reef. It would be a huge hassle to have to drain it fully... Could I just drain 50% and do it?

Drain it maybe 10% and silicone the brace back in.

That's what I'll do.....

Drain 1/2 way down and silicone it....let it set for two days and refill the tank..

Ok good, I was scared I was going to have to take EVERYTHING out and lug it outside and whatnot...

I'm assuming this needs to be fixed ASAP, but I'm not sure when I can get to home depot.

Clean the area where it was to get all the salt, build up and water off with rubbing alcohol and a razor and resilicone it let it cure a couple days. I don't know if you could safely do it with the inhabitants still in there at 50% full or not.

Don't forget that you will need to use clamps to hold the brace in place while the silicone cures.
