Is this an actual moat? Like around your house? My partner and I have been planning on building one a few years down the track, and I'd love to see how you've build yours.
The pond is 38 feet long and it is in front of the house. Guests will walk over a bridge to get to the front door. We could have made the pond larger but I was confined by the houses septic system underground and it cost me about 1500 bucks to have the main power line dug up and moved over.
When building a long pond you have to really consider the flow and how the return lines will help to keep the pond clean. Any time you move away from a simple oval or square shape you have to add a lot of returns which means more pumps, more running cost.
