Hi.

Im starting this own asiaticus tread, and i hope there are other sucker-lovers out there who can contribute with pictures and maby also write a cople of lines abaut the aquarium they`r keep them in/wich other fishes do you keep them with/wath cind of food do you give them, and so on.

Right now i keep 4 of them in a 400 liter tank. These are theyr tank mates;

-6 fully grown Toxotes Jaculatrix ("shooter fish", ore "spit-fish" as we call it in Norway).
-2 Mastacembelus armatus, around 40 cm in length.
-1 small M.erythrotaenia ("fire eel").
-3 Puntius conchonius.

This is a fine mix of Asian fishes -who is in perfect balance right now. Of course, the asiaticus` will outgrow it by time. Also the eels for that matter.

These fishes relly dont like to be keept alone! I loste one some months ago due to depression. He lost hes mate and stopped eating..
On these pictures they are all in "happy-colours" as i call it. Usally they are more black, but when one of them starts to change the colours they all suddently do! Beautiful.

Some pictures from this morning;

that's just a baby! they grow to 4 feet in the wild, prefer unheated tanks, and have eat very slowly., probably anything that sinks, semi-meat/vegetable composition will do. they get skinny quickly and die if not fed well.

in the wild, they're endangered, some are bred in farms now, and exported for ornamental purposes.., they're slow, and peaceful!

They are bottomfeeders yes, but they actually have the abilaity to learn from etch other! I had one that had a missformed(im not shure about that word, but belive this is right) mouth, and he/she culdt eat on the bottom due to this weird mouth. It started to take food in the open waters, and after one or two weeks the other tre tankmates also started to do this!! Now they almost come up to my fingers some times! Awesome :)
