So back on Tuesday I had responded to a fire at a 3 story commercial building under construction with fire through the roof. My crew was sent to the roof for extinguishment and overhaul. So after about 30-45 minutes of work we came down and I had dropped some of my gear and equipment to cool of and get some water. I made the comment of its a hot one out and a construction worker came up and said you think that's bad try working in this everyday. I looked at him in disbelief. The guys standing there in a white beater and jeans while we are all drenched in sweat. I looked at him and said you're lucky you can wear that try having on this gear. He then said oh we'll I guess. I don't get how he could say that we had 50lbs of black bunker gear on 30lbs for an air pack then another 20lbs between tools and a spare cylinder. Not only that but that gear is an oven inside since it doesn't let anything into it like heat it won't let anything out. The direct sunlight adds 10 degrees and our gear adds another 10 degrees. The nerve of some people these days blows my mind.

Are you with the PFD? I am a firefighter in Atlantic City. Hows your contracts comin' along?

some people are ignorant to what you go through... but we the rest of the population are very proud of you..

thanks for your selfless service .....:)

wow, talking about stupidity. Hopefully hes the last idiot ya got to deal with in person. Thanks for being an awesome fishkeeping firefighter!

Sounds like he just meant working outside every single day. I doubt he was so ignorant to refer to your job as easy.
