Hmmm so do u think he's not a G. Surinamensis? G. altifron and surinamensis are very similiar, little bit difficult 4 me to distinguish both of them :(

Yes it is an altifrons, i was just being more exact in regards to the variant. :) Apologies, if it came out sounding wrong.

Yes, your fish is a G. Altifrons, from the Rio Tocantins. (alt. sp. "Aeroes")

It's a different species.

Try looking up the differenet names on either google, or fishbase or the likes, and you can read about the diffrences between the species.

Just like Dovii's and Jaguars are different species, even though they are from the same family (Parachromis)

I see you have a picture of a Cichla in your avatar. The same principle applies here to different Cichla species. Like Temensis vs. Ocels, and so on
