Giving it a go again. I still have one tem, but I got 8 more Cichla today. Ray's Tank in Westminster, CO is awesome. Great to have a good store with rare fish again. Got 3 orinos, 3 xingu and 2 kelberi. They're in a 150 by themselves for now. Not going to put any more cichlids in there, though, maybe some dithers.

Thanks. I'm going to do better this time. I haven't seen any major aggression yet, so hopefully I won't lose any. I never feed them enough. I put them in a tank right beside my couch so I can observe them closely. Going to try some pellets tomorrow; some of them were already eating pellets in the store. Need to put some fake plants in there. There's a lot of hiding spots in the piece of wood that's in there. I might try to add a couple azuls when I can find them. Not going to keep all of them long-term. I'm really excited to have orinos again. Hope they turn out nice. I love when they have rosettes without any spangling in between. I forgot to ask their origins. They had one fogo, but it's not for sale.

Tank is at 82, so I'm going to bump it up a little bit. I used to keep them at 90 if I was feeding live. I'm hoping they'll take pellets or at least tilapia/krill/shrimp.

Got some plastic plants in the tank and moved the tem and an endli to eat the pellets that go uneaten. I added 6 hemiodus and they already killed one. The orinos were starting to chase the smaller xingu more, so hopefully all this helps and they don't kill all the dithers/targets right away. I'll post some pictures when the lights come on.

Hard to get them all in the picture. I'm only seeing 3 hemiodus. Looks like the tem ate at least one of them

No casualties so far and no more dead hemiodus. Some of them will eat pellets, but they're not smashing the surface like the ones I've had before, maybe because it's a tall tank for their size. Any tips on getting them hitting the surface besides dangling feeders? I'm trying to avoid that at all costs. I might try dangling some chopped up silversides. They're still a little shy, though, too.

They seem to like tilapia okay. Most of them ate at least a piece. The orinos and tem will be the first to hit as they usually swim towards the top and came up for the tilapia. I was hoping to get them to eat pellets before I tried other food, but I wanted them to eat something. The xingu will eat pellets sometimes, but they're the smallest and are low on the pecking order. The kelberi stick to the bottom.
