My AC50 is making a horrid noise and I've tried cleaning the impellor and it still is making a grinding noise....The flow is normal, what do I do, should I return it and get a new one? I've only had it for a few months

just get a new impeller and pin from your LFS.
if you have cleaned it and it still buzzes, its because the shaft has become worn or the impeller hole has become worn. this may have been from gravel or sand that got up inside since your filter is still new.
what this does is cause the impeller to spin on an angle (ie non concentrically around the shaft).
this causes the buzz as the impeller rubs against the sides or the shaft as it spins (when it normally does not).
that is all you probably need to do: replace the impeller and shaft.

Okay thanks, I'll contact the one LFS that has filter parts if not I might have to live with it for a while
God, from the title I thought I was going to be reading about a broken tank. Glad to hear it's just a cheap part replacement instead.
I had a similar problem once right after I set up a tank wit ha sand bottom, the noise went away on its own after about 3 or 4 days.
