My old man works in the off-shore survey industry, in a workshop repairing sonar equipments that come back in broken from the boats.

Visiting his workshop a couple of weeks ago he asked me to give him a quick hand with something (i'm trained in a similar field) and he lead me to the corner of the workshop where i noticed for the first time the item in the picture below. My mind at that time could think of much better uses for it than testing sonar equipment, so came back here to check and could find no threads covering this potential monster tank at all!

So here we go, please find for your viewing pleasure a rather cr*p picture taken with a camera phone of what is basically a 2.5 meter cube full of fresh water! made out of steel box section and steel plates for the sides and covered in waterproof paint! you can just see the bottom drain pipe at the nearest corner, and there's another pipe just out of shot at the corner to the left for a return feed. I don't think it would need too much imagination to remove some of the steel plates and fit glass panels! It was custom made for the workshop but the other shops doing similar work in the same area all have at least 1 and don't complain about them being an excesive expense.

According to the guys there, one of the workshops just around the corner does have large fish in theirs! don't know what kind but i think i will need to visit and see. Not sure how the fish deal with being hit by boomers all day either, but they seem to be doing fine.

So, if you need a monster tank, just wait for a down turn in the survey industry then start raiding their workshops when they go out of business!:naughty:
