i got the same thing you beat me to it and the logic is somewhat flawed. Bill can be a father-in-law and a bachelor at the same time. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Yes, but Bill is not the shortest.

oh yeah it was the right answer. I just meant that part of the reasoning was to deduce who was not married, and that was somewhat fallacious but you can still solve without that clue.

I've got an easy one that kind of hinges on that same flawed logic:

A man is driving his son to school. they get into an accident and the man dies. the son is rushed to the hospital and when he arrives for emergency surgery the doctor says "i cant operate on this boy, HES MY SON!"

How is this possible?

Well, the term son is pretty loosely defined, it's possible he was the adopted son of one and the biological son of the other.

well to be honest this is someone else's riddle, but to clarify, the son is the biological offspring of the doctor and the man driving to school. ;)

and now I've given it away.

Oh wow, can't believe I overlooked that. Doctor was his mom. Of course, I assumed the doctor was a man, but that's the trouble with assumptions.
