The Origins of Electric Blue Jack dempsy

Just a personal opinion, but I don't beleive the article is 100% true....as indicated by the word "controversy" in the original post. I think it's hybridized with another fish along the way. The article is well placed in a respected magazine. As the owner of an advertising agency I can see the value in a little disinformation placed properly. Personal experience with the fish is that it is not the hardy specimens one would expect from the Central American species of fish. I have raised them...I don't anymore.

It was an interesting read, I would like to know the origins because my wife loves EBJD's and we have some. If it was proven to be a hybrid they would be a lot less desirable to me. I'm somewhat of a purist anyway, and I can barely tolerate "man made" versions of what GOD has created anyway.

Well I for one have raised them myself and I lean towards a color variant. There some that are hardy and alot that arent.

I believe the article has a lot of good information. As docuemented tests where done. alot of people have an opinion I for one lean to color morph either way I think they're beautiful period.

I hope your right and I do agree with you, and the ones I have raised seem very much like regular jacks. I know that the first ones I had purchased I worried more because they were 50 bucks each. About a month ago I bought a couple for 20 bucks and they are pigs, feisty and growing well. However my sample is only a few fish and I respect the level of fish-keeping on this board when many say there are a lot out there that are less than hardy. Does anyone know the likelihood that we will truly know the EBJD's origin?

There Is another thread going on that makes no sense to me at all the op says powder blue are its own classification and I not sure if he even knows his own arguement?

Its hard to say , but for all information I heard they all lean towards the south american lineage with Hector Luzardo.

from what I read they had 12 inch specimens ebjd. And he didnt care much for them and had orginal breeding pair in a pond

which whether controversial or not I believe Pablo who took over hatchery would have alot of insight.
