Long story short, I had to catch three native catfish out of my indoor pond, as they are about 14 inches now and starting to get really aggressive (killed my jag and a midas, aaarrrgh). I tried everything to net them out, but the pond is huge and I had no luck. So I resorted to a fishing pole. Last Friday night, pitch dark, 1 in the am, sitting in my underwear in my basement with a fishing pole, thinking I must be the only person at that moment doing the same, when I had a hellacious bite. Even though it was dark, and I figured only the cats would find the food, I knew instantly this was no catfish. After a 5-minute fight in the dark, I netted my 15" pacu. He's OK, but I still cant figure out how he found that worm in the dark like that.

Any other ideas on how to catch those g#$%mn killer cats??? :nilly:

Pond is about 2.5 feet, lots of places to hide. The bottom is 45mm plastic, so no harpooning...

Also, I did use light tackle. It was wild, especially in the dark trying to find my landing net with a flashlight.

You know how they say rich people don't have a plan for when they get poor, but poor people have a plan for when they get rich?

My plan involves building a stone tower(ever read The Vampire Lestat?) with a viking grill on the roof and a 5,000 gallon concave front acrylic/FRP amazon tank in the basement...

With a Sharper Image massage chair dead center in front of it and a hole in the floor above it so i can angel out a jag or an oscar when the mood strikes me.

Dose the pond with something to calm them all down. Fish in a barrel.

Time out, am I the only one that read "fishing in the dark in the basement in my underwear" That's awesome! :-D I'm deffinitely gonna have to try that in my 125 gallon sometime hahaha! :-D
