I am growing out 2 Rapps Pbass. 1 Orino and 1 Pinima. So I want to gauge their growth. Here's the plan. 35%-45% waterchanges every 3 days. Feeding twice a day the menu consists of frozen blood worms, chopped shrimp fresh and frozen, fresh and frozen squid, Frozen brine shrimp, and frozen beef heart, fresh chicken hearts, FD Krill (will try Blood worms to see if accepted), will also try chopped up tilapia to see if they will take it. and after they reach around 3"+ I will add in rosies and ghost shrimp once or twice a week. They are already accepting the frozen foods and FD Krill. And oh yes THERE WILL BE PICS.

I know its not scientific but I'm not a scientist. What do you guys think.

you could do without the beef and chicken heart... its a waist and holds no nutritional value... other wise it sounds good. you only bought one orino?

Thanks Boost. Yea i only got 1 because I already have an Orino. I bought the 2 Pinima but 1 was DOA, and the Orino killed the other. Now I have the new Pinima in a seperate tank until he gets big enough to hold his own. Thinking of getting another Pinima.

W/C schedule for these 2 tanks will be 35%-45% every 3 days. The rest of my tanks get 1 W/C of approx 55%-65% each week.

Why is beefheart a waist? I have been feeding it for years to my discus and they have grown huge and stayed extremely healthy on it. It's a little messy to feed, but they must be getting a good amount of nutrition out of it.

That is just his opinion based on his experience. It's all good. Boost is a Great fishkeeper with awesome cichla. I too have fed beefheart and chicken heart though sparingly to all of my fishes for years with great results from my ENTIRE feeding program. The point of the forum is to exchange ideas. And i value input from everyone.

sounds good CS.. IME what you feed them and the WC schedule is the key part in getting maximum growth out of young cichla.. keep us posted.

:iagree: I was doing 75% three time a week for the last 5 month's. My Cichla would never take beef heart and werent really happy about chicken hearts but I got them to take them. But your menu looks good for there growth and health.

waste...........not waist
