Right now I have the following Clown Knife 1 foot, Arowana 10 inches, Asian Red Tailed Cat 10 inches, Juruense Catfish 6 inches,
Emperor Cichlid 4inches, TIger Shovelnose 4 inches and RTCXTSN hybrid 4 inches.
Years ago I saw a website (no longer exists) called The Predatory Cichlid Tank. He had a full sized Dovii, Trimac, Jaguar, and Midas along with an
Asian Red Tailed Catfish in a 240 gallon tank. The tank was stunning. So I want to get rid of everything and only keep the Asian Catfish and the Emperor Cichld. Then get 3 more monster sized cichlids.
Before you flame I do have a 1032 gallon pond on standby
This is what Id like to stock:
Emperor Cichlid
Jaguar
Peacock Bass
Pike Cichlid-the larger species or Umbee
Asian Red Tailed Catfish
Now, I have been told the ARTC are too aggressive. One, Ive seen them with other fish successfully. Two, my has yet to show aggressiveness. Finally, the guy who had the ARTC with these cichlids stated the catfish was the least aggressive of the 5.
I really think this would make a stunning set up and I do have a back up plan if the ARTC gets too aggressive. Let know your opinion or other ideas as far as stocking. BTW I am going to give the others to a LFS today. So as of tonight I will only have the Emperor Cichlid and ARTC.

b careful dude about the cat. I know its not the same (but still a predatory cat)
but I once saw a full grown rtc swallow a full grown midas. He choked an died after chewing on it for three days.
Idk if you're puttin it together but cats can swallow big cks easily

ARTCs don't really swallow fish (apart from small stuff), they chew the fins and scales off tankmates. I'd try it, if it turns out too mean, separate it.

Those were my exact thoughts. If the ARTC turns out to be too aggressive ill put him in my pond. Anyways, I dont think this guys website exist anymoe but I will look for it. As a far as P Bass youd be surprised on how tough they really are. IMO very delicate when small but get a confidence boost when they grow up.

If the fish are farm-bred rather than wild-caught, I wouldn't be too concerned about ph. I've checked the water the Tang. cichlids come in with at work, it's the same as all the other fish. One of our displays has a bunch of community fish like Congo Tetras and RT sharks, alongside breeding Lamp. Moori and Julies (Ph is 7.5).

I wouldn't be putting wild Cichla and Boulengerochromis together though, despite their similar behaviour, they're used to very different water.
