When I got it, about an inch long, it was beautiful. Vivid orange white and black stripes. It ate well, particularly enjoying spent Indian Almond leaves. It six month it has grown, and is now close to four inches.

But those fantastic juvenile colours have changed to perfectly camouflage it against wood. looking from the side, you can see the fins, but from top down on a piece of driftwood, you would not even know it was there.

Substrate too light!?

give it darker substrate, more subdued, and you should get a fish more happy to leave its wood and show its true colours more, stunning fish.

This is not unusual for the l397, they do unfortunately blend in with the wood very well!!!

I’m surprised that yours was black and white to begin with as they are usually black and bright orange and do fade over time.
