does anyone know how long it takes the product Prime to remove the nitrate and nitrite in the water...I am moving my channa bleheri into another tank and putting a 2.5 inch fahaka puffer in the 55gal. Did a 75 percent water change thursday and another 40 percent today, however after testing my water the nirate was still high, so i bought Prime and i'm wondering when it will be safe to introduce a delicate fish like a fahaka in this tank...i also added a brand new aqua clear 20 so including that new filter i have about 80 galons of filtration for the 55 gal tank.

IMO, the best way to remove nitrate is to dilute it with water changes. If water changes don't help, you may have to decrease your bio-load.

Just because the test shows high nitrate/nitrite, doesnt mean its active. From what I understand, it makes it non-toxic, but will still show up on a test kit. I dont like to use Prime, it has caused a tank to crash from time to time. Just keep up the water changes, but your percentage is too high, do 30% daily until under control
