So it is no mystery to anyone who knows me on this site That i want to make hybrid catfish. 
i think that catfish as they are, are perfect. Im not trying to play god or improve catfish. That is impossible in my eyes. I am however intrigued by just how deep catfish can be hybridized outside of even the family level. A few decades ago this would have been thought impossible. There have been a few wonderful hybrid availible over the last 10 years that have only fueled my curiosity and passion for catfish as a whole as well as their hybrids.
So i debated while making this thread where it should be posted. Could be posted in any of 3 places. Hybrids, breeding, or catfish. I feel catfish is the most appropriate for this thread but other threads in those other sections may be spawn for lack of better terminology
So what is my point? Well at this stage although i am not quite ready to produce hybrids i do need to make a brood stock selection for my first try at a hybrid. I have decided that for this first hybrid i should stay small and relatively inexpensive so i can make sure the technique works for future hybrids. the species must be readily available and have a sexual maturity size of 2' or less. Thats not a max size thats sexual maturity which happens much sooner than max size. For this first attempt fish with well documented breeding are preferred. I have a few ideas in mind but wanted to see what everyone else thought. Dont go crazy with things like rtc, tsn, ect. The big boys are for later down the road. I needbto get my brood stock going as it nay take 2-4 years to raise them to maturity for an attempt. My goal is to raise 6 of 4 different small to medium sized fish for his.
