My guy is about 3.5 inches and I was wondering when the bright red color will begin to show itself in his tail? The tail right now is kinda muted in color.

hey man very very very soon. like 7 inches at the lastest? so im guessing 3 weeks in ure case considering u feed him a good healthy diet. good luck :)

I tend to think the tail gets brighter the older they get. I have a 2" RTC with a brown tail, a 16" RTC with a slightly reddish/brown tail, another 18-19"RTC with a similar reddish brown and a 30" RTC with a pretty decent red tail. I usually see bright red tails on the monsters but not in the 2"-24" guys. It may be a male / female thing too, or diet ???? I feed one of my RTC's only shrimp and his tail hasnt changed but his body color has gotten more yellow than creme ??? Who really knows ???

Do the blood worms hand fed for now sound ok? Or should I add something else, I can;t get him to eat the hikari carnivore pellets..:irked:

Trying wrapping the Hikari carnivore pellet in a thin layer of tilapia or other non oily fish fillet. It appears like it helps them get used to the feel of the pellet.

try feeding him shrimpy things, like declawed baby crawdads

feed him krill and a good pellet and wait a few months and you should see a change
