Hi all,
As mentioned in my newbie intro, i'm looking to set up a new tank for a freshwater ray, i'm after a ray that when reached full adult size ist too big! around 10" to 15" when fully grown.

Can anyone tell me what are the smallest breeds of freshwater rays & what size they will reach when fully grown?
I know of the Hystrix Ray fully grown is around 12"-15"

What other small rays are there??

I would like to start with just the one freshwater ray also i'm looking at a
4ft length x 2ft depth x 16" High tank would this be suitable for one small breed of ray??

Filteration was thinking on the Fluval FX5
What are your thoughts on what filter to go for??

Your help would be much appreciated
Thanks
Andy

The smallest ray is scobina but they are very hard to find I have been keeping rays for over 20 years and only Sean and owned 1 pair

You can get them from a few breeders in Germany but that's about it

The females get to about 12-14 inch and the males 8-12 Inch

Even for a ray that small you will still need a 6x2x2 ft tank

For any of the other rays with exception of maybe hystrix or reticulatua which may be ok in a 30inch wide tank you are going to need a 3ft wide tank

Shame you can't get a dwarf ray like you can get puffers would love a ray. How do you get a 3 ft wide tank into your house? Must have to make in place ?
