Hi All. I have a request. My B-Day is coming up in late Jan. I really want what the exotic petsore calls "Teacup Ray". They seem healthy. They are about 3-4in disk size. I want to know what size tank can a pair live in? Also how long can a pair live in a 40 gallon Breeder.......36in. by 18in. by 17in. or a 40 Gallon Long.........48in. by 13in. by 17in. I jst got an 80 Galllon Bow Front tank so I don't want to get a huge tank right away. I'm 12 thats why. The Sting Ray Profiles..........I don't know exactly which one might it be. Please Help!
:stingray::feedback::stingray:

P. reticulata is 99% what the ray is.... till you get a larger tank you should probably hold off on the ray... foot print is important but so is vaolume of water as they put out alot of waste... what is the stocking in your other tanks?

dont try with 40g and definitely dont try it with 3" retics as your first ray

I would really suggest getting a Motoro as a starter ray, and go with a 300+ gallon tank (for growout, until the need something bigger). If you want to stick with the "teacup" (probably a reticulated river ray, or retic) you could go with a 250+ tank, as long as it has a decent footprint. Also, if you are going to buy the "teacup" rays, make sure to get the pet store to show you them eating! If they don't eat, or they feed them feeder fish, don't even bother with that place.

Check the ray profile sticky as well- it's got some good info.

if a retic is eating and you wanna spend the money on black worms till you break it...a retic is a fine starter ray... few doses of prazi pro and some black worms and your good to go..

at 3" though is kinda a risk as a first ray, but i suppose any ray would work as long as hes committed.

My main tank is 80 gallon bow front, and is home to a community fish of:

2 Weather Loaches
3 Tricolor sharks
4 "Wierd" barbs
2 Peacock eels
3 Hexazon Barb
3 Rosy Barb
3 Odessa Barbs
2 Pictus Cats
3 Zebra Danios
3 Neon Blue Gouramis
3 Fire Gouramis
8 Glo Fish

Tank is Bowfront, 48in by 18in. by 26in. I don't know the measure of its widest point. All fish stay under 3in. as adults besides Pictus cats, Peacock Eels, Weather Loaches, Tricolor Sharks.

P.S. All fish currently under 4in.

dont buy a ray till you have a 180.... that is your serious best bet... that bio load plus a rays waste... not worth it...

Thanks All, Who knows maybe with Christmas, and B-Day I can save enough money to purchase a larger tank for rays and place the in my dads office (home office) By the way anyone has an old tank they want to send me for Christmas a a Monster Keeper member? I guess not, any good places to purchase these tanks, and good floor space, for eighter a
"Tea Cup Ray" or a Motoro Ray?
Thanks

80 gallon for a retic is only going to last about a month and is pretty much we would call a quarantine tank. As nic said, wait till you get atleast a 180 gallon tank.
