I've had a 55gal South American tank set up for about 4 months now, I think, and its been a work in progress. It houses 2 Severums, 1 Geo, 1 Blue Acara, 6 German Blue Rams, 2 Apistos, 3 Angels, 3 Rosy Barbs, 1 Julie cory, and 2 Metae cories. Today I went out and splurged on some new plants for the tank, and picked up 6 large bunches of grass (not sure what exactly it is, but it looks good!). I love the way it makes the tank look, so I thought I'd share an update photo of the whole tank with the new grasses in there (excuse the reflections :)).

Tank Setup

Sinisters response to my Q------>> 30gal is simply too small for a full grown Severum. Are you aware that they reach up to 12" full grown? I would never keep a Sev in anything less than a 55gal, and as chad already said, certainly not with tankmates in an already too-small tank.

>>>>I really like your setup, but back on 5-21-2006 I asked if in a 30 g a single gold sev could have any tankmates whatsoever (maybe a cory?? or something small), and you told me a single gold sev should not be kept in anything less that a 55g.......well you seem to have the 55g down but with tons of tank mates, not to mention a pair of sevs, and all those tank mates...........Is that pic really a 55g or is it bigger, cuz bro i think you are contradicting yourself if that tank is really only a 55g (severly overstocked). I like the Aquascaping though!:D

double post , pls excuse me!!

Sorry, perhaps I should have put 'growout tank' in the title. This is NOT their permanent home. Sevy is only about 7", Dory is about 4" (the Sev pair), the angels are only 1.5" each, and the Geo and Acara are about 3" each. In a few months I'll be purchasing a 100+gal tank to house the larger guys, and this one will stay set up as a dwarf SA tank.

Thanks again, Pete :)

gotcha, ok, A very nice "growout" tank as you now put it..........haha!! I ended up putting a nice little corydoras in with my gold sev (30g) and just recently added a 2.5" acara myself.......just to mix it up alittle..............The acara will most likely be a lodger and wil get moved to the 125 eventually!!!!!.........no problems whatsover and all is tranquil.....so far!!!!...........................

good luck with all,.:D
