Eta Carinae is one of the most massive stars in our galaxy. It is a double star system. Eta Carinae A has around 100 - 120 times the mass of our sun and Eta Carinae B has 30 times the mass of the sun. They emitt around 5.000.000 times more energy then our sun does. The Eta Carinae Star System generates very strong stellar winds, which trigger the birth of many new stars around them.
That system is very unstable and Eta Carinae A already had many extreme outbursts. It will not end in a supernova but in something much more extreme called a hypernova. That could even have some effects on earth. It is hard to understand those powers that work there.
