This is my 220. It is a haven for some of the many unwanted fish I have come across in my short few years. Just like all things, the stories around and in this tank could go for days, but I thought I'd just share a few of the special ones with this group of obviously understanding folk. The pacu (Paco and Finny) were very small and very ill at the pet shop I worked at. With a little love and some rule breaking I pulled them back from near ends and took them home. OOOps. No, I understood what I was getting into. They are about 3 and a half years in my care. Finny lost his second dorsal but they are big dumb babies I love um. Then there is the large tiger oscar ( Momma). She was dropped off at the store in a five gallon bucket. She really didn't fit in a bucket. I got her a mate and added her to the masses. The gorgeous pink/orange beast is Victor. I found him in a batch of Midas babies. He just caught my eye as a grey little cichlid, nothing special. Yeh right. Look at that amazing animal. To my best knowledge he is a red texas flowerhorn. He has him a little midas girl friend and they breed like crazy obviously with no result him being a hybrid and all. But you can't tell him that he guards those eggs until they fungus over and his mate sneeks in and eats them. He's been known to bite me from time to time but I wouldn't give him up for the world. The clown knife was in another stores tank. I know better than to go in certain stores but we don't always do what we know to be good ideas. He was probably a good 15' kept in a 20 long!! I bartered the owner from 75 to 40 dollars with loud rants of animal cruelty. There are a few more rescues in there but the rest are just purchases or dumped on my door step's. But my favorites are the Aro and the Soon hock. The aro ( Gandalf ) was purchased from that pet store I used to work for. I stopped being involved in the retail pet world because of the pain it caused me to see the animals being carted off with little care, anyway. I always loved aros and have kept a few for awhile but then donated them to the aquarium. This time I was ready to keep this one for the long haul. He is about 2 years old now and he loves his 2-5 frozen mice a day and his occasional rub down from ole dad. He is amazing a can put the mice right in his mouth and he gently takes them from me. The Soon hock ( Marbled goby ) Soony was also a purchase from that store and he is awsome he is probably been with me for 4 years or so. He likes ham. I know the reasons why I shouldn't be putting sandwich meat in my tank but you should see their smiles after. Well I have taken enough of your time I hope you enjoy the pics.
