Ok, need feedback fromt he most knowledgable .
i am getting an IMPERIAL VIP RED soon. in fact very soon.
what can i look for.
should i look for darker shade scales?
what else to perhaps even indicated good colour potential. its 25 cms
any input at all?
:headbang2:naughty:

something like in the photos ... (the red is 12")

color finnages should be clear bright or dark red .....
the lips also red & no plj ... straight eyes straight barbels ...
the scales shine brightly if can the shine already reached the 5th row,
spoon head if any, long pectoral , big diamond or fan tail

anyone else ... :grinno:

wow
thanks!
PLJ i assume is pro9minent lower jaw, indicating stunting and underfeeding and olderfish?
unuslaly large eyeballs unproportionate to facealso?

this fish was born recently - certificate is there, but yes willlook

thansk for that!
another thing

can you tell the colour potential from this size, 25cm?

also the seller claims i should use tanning lights immediately, and not wait for colour to come out - he said it will bring out MORE RED.
is this the case?
or shall i just uby it, put it under normal lighting and when i see reds, dark orange blushes on tip of scales and face, then tan?

also he said that you can tell colour potentialf romt his size from the darkness of the scales base colour.
deep bluish blackish colour indicates colours willb e blood red as opposed to a dark orange or yelowish orange
correct?

plj can develop from picky eater or too small environment so then aro stunted but no one can tells the real main reason.

yes from 25cm up you can see the color potential whether its going to be red or not ... from the finnages redness & the shines.
if the color was dark red then it should be a blood red, if it was bright red then it become chili red, thats all and theres nothing to do with base color or any other features.

abt tanning .... you could do it right away after the aro settles down and developed some color on gill plate ... at least thats i have been doing but its rather people preferences ... theres no rules abt it.

oh .... 1 other thing,
since you already decided to get vip red, then go 4 it.

i only suggest to choose red from their special features like i stated above ... not from the brand or farm .... any farm/brand would do just fine as long as you like it very much. :grinno:

agree with all of the above, except the spoonhead. head shape IMO is personal preference. Some people like the more spoon head look, others prefer the more traditional "bullet" shaped head. I have seen both on beautiful aros.
