I'm probably in the process of quitting the fish hobby ( a lot of people who knew what is going on knew this was coming).
I'm leaving out this information for the time being. I'd have to write a paragraph or two just to explain it all.
I put some fish up for adoption last spring and nobody wanted them. So for now the plan is I'm keeping whatever fish are leftover for the time being. If things get better and there are fish left that haven't found new homes yet, then I guess I won't quit. I'll just have to see how it goes. There is a lone corydoras that I'd prefer found a new home as they need to live in groups and I'd rather drain that tank that only has one fish left. This one has been surviving against the odds when I'm not there to care for them, when the heat fails, and deserves a new home. Maybe someone will eventually feel sorry enough to adopt the poor thing.
Because of the ongoing heating problems at the rental house, tropical fish are at risk of being killed when the weather gets colder. The basement is always colder even when the heat is working it's hard to keep aquariums heated in the basement. Even an aquarium with four times as many heaters running as needed still got too cold for fish to survive last winter. Also it adds extra to the electricity bill to "quad" heat aquariums kept in a cold basement.
PS: I was sorry to hear that MFK is having lawsuit problems and sorry I cannot be of more help. I haven't kept up with a lot of my Facebook and emails etc.
I would like this place to keep on running whether I am personally here or not.
