the unlive feeder fish!

pretend i got feeders from a pet store and didnt want to quarantine them. but instead frozen them or boiled. is this recommended or should i just stick to the quarantine?

Just quarintine! most fish won't eat dead feeders, or you might as well buy frozen krill and shirmps or what not.

Lets pretend you go to the frozen food freezer at your local pet store and buy them already dead and frozen. That way you can pretend you are saving a bunch of money.


Actually frozen silversides cost me fourteen dollars a pound but it is still cheaper than live feeders. It is cheaper to go to the grocery store and buy overpriced human grade seafood to feed to your fish. I certianly wouldn't eat any silversides.

my africans just ate about 20 + frozen rosy reds.....................i was hooked up with way too many last time i went feeder shopping!!! .................so i froze them and just now ( 3 wks ltr) fed them.........ALL gONE!!!!

i do this. i feed my aro and pbass.

My aros, pbass and knives eat almost anything ... frozen or alive!

Freezing does not kill all parasites and boiling lowers the food value of the fish.
