About a year ago I picked up some Theraps lentiginosum, and other than feeding time, most of the time, they hid in or near the mouths of their caves, and pale.

They were very hard to get a respective photo of.
Today I added 6 Poecilia latipinna and went to watch the Packers/Cowboys game, when I returned to the fishroom, all the Theraps were out front, bold, and totally opposite.

Wow those are beautiful!!! You must be STOKED!!! Is there a common name I may have heard before?
Dithers rock!!! :D

Don't know if there is a common name for the cichlids, but the dithers are sailfin mollies. They range from North Carolina south into the Yucatan in Mexico.
I been fascinated with them ever since I snorkeled with them in the cenotes of the Riviera Maya.

Wow, great looking fish and that's crazy what adding a few dithers can do to change up personalities.

In cenote Cristanlino, back in 2013, I saw male sailfin mollys almost as large as adult JDs (maybe 7+"). The larger they were, the deeper in the water column they stayed, and the deeper blue, was the color. Very impressive.
In cenote Azul, the largest I saw were @4".
I'm told in Florida, it is not unusual to see 5+".
They all look great! How big do sailfins really get? Around 4''?

Thats great. I wish I could do this with my grammodes. They have great colors but at 2" maybe tops they stay hid. Unless they're killing someone of course.

I swapped my sd's for rainbow fish and the difference has been huge. My hrp almost looks happy he swims at all levels of the tank and even surface fed today. Before I never saw him swim anywhere but at the substrate level. My v.heterospilus was getting bullied by the hrp now he actually instigates sometimes. But overall they get along better. I am a believer in dithers

My argentea is intolerant of cichlid tankmates but doesnt bother the tiger barbs at all.
