I have head of each state maybe starting something like this.
Instead of a list of species being put on a black list, where as every species on this list will be banned. There will be a white list, where as if a species is NOT on this list you will not be able to own it.
If legislation is written to produce a white list and any species is omitted either on purpose or by accident you will not be able to own it.

This video by Rachel O'Leary touches on this subject.

Thank you this is very important. We need to protect our ability to get our fish, our fish in the wild and our local ecosystems or we won't have them.

I didn't know if this subject has been brought up or not. But I believe as aquarists we all need to be informed on anything that put the hobby we love at risk.

Wow thx for sharing. Im amazed they have the time to worry about a white list...smh

The state of Maine takes a similar approach with some species. Let's hope the people don't vote for representatives that enact excessive regulations in the future.

I wish felt otherwise, but this feels like the kind of bad thing that is unstoppable because of its sheer stupidity.

While i dont live in the US that would suck for you guys... can almost forget owning any newly discovered fish...

Sounds like a bad idea to me. Half of these people don't even know what species they are adding or not adding to the list nor do they really care. All it would take is leaving out a few species of rays, birchir, pbass, etc. to ruin someone display tank or side business of breading. If any of my fish didn't make it into the white list I would not be giving them up willingly.

Well let's hope this never happens.
But I'm sure anything you would be grandfathered in but no one would be able to import any new stock.
I'm sure sale and transportation across state lines would be banned for any species that didn't make the list.

I didnt consider how this could impact distributors...but forgetting to add one species could very well put someone out of business. Toyins biggest seller are polys. Im sure not being able to import them would destroy his business
